Breakthrough in the development of ultra-high-speed ADC/DAC chips for microelectronics

Recently, the ultra-high-speed circuit research group of the Microwave Devices and Integrated Circuits Research Laboratory (four-room) of the Institute of Microelectronics, Chinese Academy of Sciences has made breakthroughs in the development of ultra-high-speed ADC/DAC chips, and successfully developed 8GS/s 4bit ADCs and 10GS/s 8bits. DAC chip.

The ADC chip uses a flash structure with interpolated averaging and integrates approximately 1,250 transistors. Test results show that the chip can work stably at 8GHz clock frequency, and the maximum sampling frequency can reach 9GHz. The ultra-high-speed DAC chip uses an R-2R-based current switch structure and integrates a 10Gbps self-test code stream generation circuit, which includes a total of 1045 transistors. Test results show that the chip can work normally at 10GHz clock frequency.

Ultra-high speed ADC/DAC chips have broad application prospects in the field of optical communication and wireless broadband communication. The successful development of these two chips has greatly improved the highest sampling frequency of domestic single-chip high-speed ADC and DAC circuits, and laid a solid foundation for the development of higher performance ADC/DAC circuits in the future.
