(IDT) (Nasdaq: IDTI) today announced a highly programmable clock generator and jitter attenuator IC featuring low The phase noise at 200fs provides more design margin for the 10Gbps interface of wired and wireless communication networks. Additional phase noise margins allow design constraints to be relaxed, allowing engineers to minimize bit error rates while reducing overall system cost.
The IDT®8T49N240 is the latest addition to IDT's third-generation Universal Frequency Converter (UFTTM) family. It is characterized by the ability to generate almost all common frequency outputs from almost any frequency input. This extremely flexible and high performance clock generator and jitter attenuator is ideal for 10Gbps and multi-channel 40Gpbs / 100Gbps timing applications. The maximum phase noise typically allowed on these application physical ports is 300fs. With a phase noise specification of 200fs, the 8T49N240 provides sufficient noise margin, allowing engineers to simplify clock tree design and use low-cost PCBs.

The 8T49N240 features a 6 x 6 mm package size that provides significantly less PCB area than most other solutions with this level of performance and flexibility. The device is also suitable for 25/28Gbps interfaces.
