Purpose and scope of application
1 The method is suitable for the standard compaction method or large compaction method to make the asphalt mixture test piece, which is used for testing the physical and mechanical properties of the asphalt mixture in the laboratory.
2 Standard compaction method is applicable to the molding of φ101.6mm×63.5mm cylindrical specimens used in Marshall test and indirect tensile test (cracking method). The large-scale compaction method is suitable for the molding of large cylindrical specimens of φ152.4mm×95.3mm.
3 The specifications of the mineral materials and the number of test pieces in the preparation of the asphalt mixture test pieces shall comply with the following requirements:
3.1 Asphalt mixture mix design and artificial preparation of asphalt mixture in the laboratory to make test pieces, the test piece size should be consistent with the test piece diameter not less than 4 times the nominal maximum particle size of the aggregate, the thickness is not less than the nominal maximum particle size of the aggregate 1 to 1.5 times the rule. For specimens with a diameter of 101.6 mm, the nominal maximum particle size of the aggregate shall not exceed 26.5 mm. For coarse-grained asphalt mixtures with a particle size greater than 26.5mm, the aggregates larger than 26.5mm should be replaced by the same amount of aggregates of 13.2mm~26.5mm (instead of the method), and large-scale cylindrical tests with a diameter of 152.4mm can also be used. Pieces. The large cylindrical test piece is suitable for the case where the nominal maximum particle size of the aggregate is not more than 37.5 mm. The number of test pieces formed in the laboratory must be less than four, and should be increased to 5-6 if necessary.
3.2 When using the finished sample of the mixed asphalt mixture collected by the mixing plant and the construction site to make the test piece with the diameter of 101.6mm, select different methods and the number of test pieces according to the following regulations:
When the nominal maximum particle size of the aggregate is less than or equal to 26.5 mm, it can be directly sampled (direct method). The number of test pieces is usually four.
When the nominal maximum particle size of the aggregate is greater than 26.5mm, but not more than 31.5mm, it is better to use the aggregate larger than 26.5mm after screening (screening method), the number of test pieces is still 4, if using the direct method, The number of test pieces should be increased to six.
When the nominal maximum particle size of the aggregate is greater than 31.5 mm, the sieving method must be used. The screened sieve hole is 26.5 mm, and one set of test pieces is still 4.
Instruments and materials
Standard compactor: It consists of a compacting hammer, a φ98.5mm flat circular compacting head and a guide bar with a handle. The compacting hammer is lifted manually or mechanically, and is freely crushed from the height of 457.2 mm ± 1.5 mm along the guide bar. The standard compacting hammer mass is 4536 g ± 9 g.
Large-scale compactor: consists of a compacting hammer, a φ149.5mm flat circular compactor and a guide bar with handle (diameter 15.9mm). The compacting hammer was lifted by the machine, and it was freely dropped from the height of 457.2 mm and 2.5 mm along the guide bar. The mass of the large compacting hammer was 10210 g ± 10 g.
Standard compaction table: used to fix the test mode. There is a 305mm305mm×25mm steel plate on the hardwood pier of 200mm×200mm×457mm. The wooden pier is fixed on the cement concrete slab below with 4 sections. The wooden pier is made of Cyclobalanopsis glauca, pine or other hardwood with a dry density of 0.67g/cm3~0.77g/cm3. This standard compaction table must be available for manual or mechanical compaction.
The automatic compaction device is a device that integrates the standard compacting hammer and the standard compacting table and electrically drives the compacting hammer to continuously compact the test piece and automatically counts it. The compacting speed is 60 times/min±5 times/min. The power of large-scale compaction electric compaction is not less than 250W.
Asphalt mixture mixer for laboratory: It can ensure the mixing temperature and mix well, and can control the mixing time. The capacity is not less than 10L, as shown in Figure 1. The stirring blade rotation speed is 70r/min~80r/min, and the revolution speed is 40r/min~50r/min.
Mold release: Electric or manual, cylindrical test piece can be unimpeded, and the standard cylindrical test piece and the extrusion ring of large cylindrical test piece size are available.
Test mode: made of high carbon steel or tool steel, each set consists of a cylindrical metal cylinder with an inner diameter of 101.6mm ± 0.2mm, a height of 87mm, a base (about 120.6mm in diameter) and a sleeve (inner diameter 101.6mm, height 70mm). One.
The test piece and sleeve of the large cylindrical test piece are shown in Figure 2. The outer diameter of the sleeve is 165.1 mm, the inner diameter is 155.6 mm ± 0.3 mm, and the total height is 83 mm. The inner diameter of the test mold is 152.4mm±0.2mm, the total height is 115mm, the base plate thickness is 12.7mm, and the diameter is 172mm.
Oven: One large and one medium, equipped with a temperature regulator.
Balance or electronic scale: used to weigh the mineral material, the sensitivity is not more than 0.5g; for weighing the asphalt, the sensitivity is not more than 0.1g.
