Liu Shizhen: It is recommended that OLED and LED complement each other

White OLED is expected to form a complementary development with inorganic white LEDs. It will have a great role in energy saving and emission reduction. At present, organic white light is developing rapidly in the world, and there is a demand for investment. The investment is generally equivalent to inorganic LEDs, and the industry will soon be formed. Foundation, to the early stage of the breakthrough.

As a surface light source, organic white LEDs are particularly suitable for the development of indoor lighting, such as wallpaper lighting, flexible, transparent lighting, corridor lighting (anti-tread), landscape lighting and so on. Therefore, it complements the application of inorganic LEDs as point sources. At present, the challenges in the development of organic white LEDs are performance, price and patents. Although OLED is still far less than inorganic LEDs, the development is still very fast. From an international perspective, the research level is only behind the inorganic LED for about two years. Affected by the rapid increase in luminous efficiency of organic LED lighting in recent years, the US Department of Energy has previously achieved the development goal of “achieving the organic luminescence efficiency of 150 lm/W by 2025” ahead of 2012. Japanese scholars believe that although the cost of organic LED lighting is still very high, with the improvement of performance and the promotion of mass production, it will rapidly decline, and by 2015, it will reach "1 yen / lm" as a popular standard value. Some even predict that the cost of organic LED lighting will be equal to that of incandescent lamps by 2020.

For lighting applications, the key performance is the energy conversion efficiency (power efficiency) of organic white light devices. It depends on: internal quantum efficiency and output coupling efficiency. At present, for fluorescent phosphorescent white light devices using fluorescent (or low-efficiency phosphorescent) blue materials, there is no need for output coupling and P, N doping technology, and the device structure is not carefully optimized, and the level of the same type of devices abroad is not large, although We are currently doing a lot of research on P, N doping technology, output coupling technology and high-efficiency, long-life blue phosphorescent materials. But this is still a big gap with foreign countries; comprehensive use of these technologies and high-performance materials abroad Reports with a power efficiency of 100 lm/W and a long life span are being promoted. We believe that if we strengthen investment and research in these areas, we will certainly shorten the gap with foreign countries.

In order to form an industry, organic LEDs are essential for core patents. In terms of organic LEDs, Japanese patent applications account for nearly two-thirds of the world's total, and are far ahead of other countries such as the US, and we lack core patents.

It is recommended that organic white LEDs and inorganic LEDs complement each other. It is recommended to develop blue phosphorescent materials with practical application value during the “Twelfth Five-Year Plan” period, with luminous efficiency greater than 20lm/W and long life of 5000~10000 hours, which is the key to achieve white light devices reaching 100lm/W; Rate transmission materials, the electron mobility is 1~2 orders of magnitude higher than the current, in order to achieve the injection balance of the excellent source area; it is recommended to actively develop P, N doping technology and output coupling technology to improve power conversion efficiency; In the above research and development, we advocate the formation of core patents to facilitate the development of the industry. In terms of layout, we must first make technological breakthroughs, and the industry should intervene in a timely manner, welcoming the industry's initial investment; in management, we insist on preferential support, division of labor (materials, devices, lifespan, processing technology, etc.), sharing results, emphasizing physics and chemists Combine and create conditions for regular communication. It is hoped that the peers engaged in the research and development of organic LEDs will work harder to produce samples with a certain degree of display as soon as possible.

We firmly believe that as long as the correct technology route and proper deployment during the "Twelfth Five-Year Plan" period, we can narrow the gap with semiconductor lighting in foreign countries and even catch up.
