Warner Bros. New Patent Brings Full Immersive Cinematic Experience to Cinemas

The entertainment industry giant Warner Bros. has applied for a patent related to virtual reality and augmented reality technology to bring an immersive viewing experience to cinemas and home theaters.

The Warner Bros. patent document describes a system that allows fans to experience VR and AR content in movie theaters in a manner similar to 3D movies. But unlike 3D movies, the new system is compatible with home theater Netflix and iTunes.

Warner Bros. further pointed out that the system supports integrated ARM or Intel processor heads, which means that the next generation of head phones will need to implement most of the technologies described in the patents. According to Xiaobian, patent documents also mention HoloLens and other commercial heads.

With the specific mention of iTunes and Netflix, this system seems to support live content streaming and rely on 5G networks to transmit the required amount of data. The 5G network is expected to be rolled out in 2018, and now various vendors have begun to lay out.

At this stage, it is unclear whether the implementation of the system means that the cinema will provide head-up display to the audience, just as it is to provide 3D glasses when watching 3D movies. Or if you want to experience VR/AR content, viewers need to prepare their own heads. Regardless of the method used, both have certain implementation obstacles.
