[High-tech LED News] Recently, Philips Lumileds added a new deep red LED to its Luxeon series. It covers everything from royal blue (440-460nm) to deep red (650-670nm) and is designed to be used in fields such as gardening and entertainment.
Philips estimates that the LED's drive current is about twice that of the regular Luxeon series, which produces 720mW of radiant power or radiant flux at 700mA.
The horticultural field is the main purchasing power of deep red LEDs. Philips pointed out that plants have the highest chlorophyll synthesis rate at 660 nm. Plant growth and greenhouses are replacing universal lighting with a single-wavelength source. Philips said it will focus on continuously improving the quality of its color LED series and increasing its light output.
According to Philips, the royal blue LED reaches 1120mW of radiated power at 700mA. It mainly uses LED and phosphor separation technology to achieve general lighting functions.
In addition, in terms of green LEDs, China's Shanxi Lebrite claims to have produced 150-160lm green LEDs with 350mA drive current. If this type of product can be produced under cost-effective conditions. Then it will take the lead in special applications such as general lighting, backlighting and gardening. However, the current green LEDs on the market cannot meet the requirements efficiently.
