SARFT officially announces TVOS 2.0, a smart TV operating system

SARFT released TVOS 1.0, a smart TV operating system, on December 26, 2013. Today, the Department of Electronics and Information Technology of the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television, and the Department of Electronics and Information of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology held the “Smart TV Operating System” in Changsha, Hunan Province. The TVOS 2.0 conference and TVOS2.0 industrialization application launch ceremony” officially released the TVOS2.0 software for the smart TV operating system.


According to reports, TVOS 2.0 was jointly developed by the SARFT's Academy of Broadcasting Sciences, Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd., Alibaba Group, ZTE Corporation, Shenzhen Skyworth-RGB Electronics, and 63 companies related to production, research, and development. Based on the integration of TVOS 1.0, Huawei MediaOS and Alibaba YunOS, a new generation of smart TV operating systems was created.

TVOS2.0 has built-in software function modules such as smart home services, media gateways, intelligent human-computer interaction, and big data collection, and is equipped with a variety of value-added services such as video communications and video games, which can effectively support set-top boxes, all-in-ones, and media gateways. Various smart TV terminal forms.

At the meeting, the Science and Technology Division of the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television announced the establishment of the “Broadband Smart Terminal Industry Alliance” to further accelerate the innovative application and popularization of China’s smart TV operating system TVOS2.0.

Last month, a number of smart TV boxes, including the Tmall Box, issued a notice under the SARFT's ban on internet box offending software, shielding a variety of live broadcast software.
