For more information on the Silicon Labs Thunderboard React Development Kit, including pricing, availability and video, the mobile app and cloud software can be downloaded from GitHub. You'll find it easy to develop smart sensor node applications for health and fitness wearables, home and industrial automation, electrical equipment, asset tracking and more.

Thunderboard React greatly simplifies IoT design by connecting battery-powered sensor nodes to the sensing, processing and wireless components required in the cloud database. The onboard sensors measure motion, light and environmental conditions and deliver real-time sensor data to the cloud via a Bluetooth connection. The intuitive mobile app displays sensor data on smartphones and tablets, and users can control the board through the app.

With Thunderboard React, wireless sensor application development is possible without RF expertise. Developers can develop operational applications in minutes using Silicon Labs' easy-to-use wireless development tools, and pre-certified Bluetooth low energy modules minimize the time and effort required to achieve global wireless certification.

The ThunderboardReact Development Kit includes the following Silicon Labs components and software:

• BGM111 global pre-certified Bluetooth low power module

• Si7021 relative humidity and temperature sensor

• Si1133 UV Index and Ambient Light Sensor

• 6-axis gyroscope / accelerometer

• Hall effect position sensor

• Open source design files

• Android and iOS mobile app

Energy-efficient components on the Thunderboard React board enable developers to build small button-battery-powered IoT nodes. The firmware and mobile apps offered by Silicon Labs have been optimized with the energy-saving features of on-board components. For developers-specific IoT application requirements, these components can also be easily integrated and modified to enable Bluetooth-to-Cloud connectivity.

Daniel Cooley, senior vice president and general manager of IoT products at Silicon Labs, said: "Thunderboard React, along with our free firmware and source code, provides developers and manufacturers with an easy and flexible way to evaluate and prototype wireless node designs and be able to pass Bluetooth. Low energy connects to the cloud. Our customers are now able to create more competitive, secure and useful IoT products and provide cloud-based analytics and business intelligence to their end users."
