Dismantling reveals that Tesla Model 3 has a labor cost of $28,000

According to foreign media reports, many competitors have purchased the Tesla Model3 and then opened it up to try to gain a deeper understanding. Earlier this year, a German automaker had already reversed the Model 3 and said that Model3 left a deep impression on himself.

Now according to foreign media reports, another German car company completed the dismantling of the Model 3, and said that Tesla's latest electric car left a deep impression on its cost control.

The German magazine WirtschaftsWoche recently interviewed an engineering company that purchased a second-hand Model3, which in addition to its performance tests also dismantled this star-rated electric vehicle.

The company said that through its own analysis, Model3's materials and logistics costs are about 18,000 US dollars, labor costs are 10,000 US dollars, so the total cost of manufacturing a Model3 is 28,000 US dollars.

A test engineer of the company said that he believes that the production of Model3 will bring a lot of profits to Tesla. If Tesla can finally complete the production target of 10,000 Model3 per week, it will make a great contribution to Tesla’s profitability. This analysis refutes the previous argument that Model 3 costs nearly 35,000 U.S. dollars, and that 35,000 U.S. dollars is exactly the price of the Standard Model 3 model.

At the same time, the company also estimated the proportion of cobalt in the Model 3 battery, which is about 3%.

Compared with competitors, the cobalt content of the Model 3 car battery is much lower, and this statement is also consistent with the recent Tesla shareholder report that claims that the cobalt production capacity is insufficient.

Tesla's chief executive, Elon Musk, also expressed his affirmation of this calculation on Twitter.

Model3's low material labor costs seem to be somewhat unexpected. Although it sounds scary to say that Model3 is profitable, this is based on the premise that Model3 has reached 10,000 capacity per week.

Musk said recently that Tesla is currently unable to achieve its goal of earning profits through the Standard Model3, but the company expects to achieve profitability after achieving a weekly capacity of 5,000 units by the end of this year.

Musk once stated that Tesla’s goal is to give Model 3 a gross margin of 25%, but mainly rely on sales of more high-margin versions, such as performance versions, large-capacity batteries, and additional autopilot technology.

Judging from this dismantling conclusion, the standard version of the Model3, which is priced at $35,000, has almost reached a profit margin of 25%. Therefore, once it reaches 10,000 units/week, it is hopeful that Tesla will be able to achieve profitability.
