Many users are dissatisfied with the slow startup speed of Windows, and Microsoft is considering adding a function to Windows to change this situation.
Microsoft is investigating some users: If Windows includes an "Instant On" feature, does the user like it? The "immediate boot" feature in Microsoft's plan can display a desktop for users to use on the display within a few seconds.
A survey published on the Engadget website stated that "this concept is called 'immediate booting' and 'immediate booting' can start the computer from a powered off state in a very short period of time to accomplish some specific tasks. 'Complete Windows' is different, which limits the tasks that users can accomplish and the applications they run."
The faster start-up speed is obviously a priority for Microsoft, and Windows 7 may support such features. Michael Fortin, a Microsoft engineer, wrote in a blog in August that one of the top goals of Windows 7 is to significantly reduce system startup time. Laboratory tests show that an "excellent" system should have a startup time of less than 15 seconds.
Microsoft has been working closely with PC makers to shorten the startup time of Windows 7 and Windows Vista systems. The first results of their cooperation will be reflected in the new PCs that will be marketed during the Christmas sales season this year.

Draw-wire sensors of the wire sensor series measure with high linearity across the entire measuring range and are used for distance and position measurements of 100mm up to 20,000mm. Draw-wire sensors from LANDER are ideal for integration and subsequent assembly in serial OEM applications, e.g., in medical devices, lifts, conveyors and automotive engineering.
