China Mobile (00941.HK)'s new five-mode requirements for 4G custom machines made the industry chain seem a bit unprepared. Especially for domestic chip manufacturers, the lack of time means a huge market share loss. And those small and medium-sized mobile phone manufacturers, in the environment of high cost and thin profit, should also carefully consider the rhythm to participate in market competition.
Recently, China Mobile updated the "White Paper for China Mobile Customized Terminal Products", clearly stating that since May 31, 2014, China Mobile will test all 4G customized mobile phones to support five-mode (TD-LTE/FDD-LTE/TD). -SCDMA/GSM/WCDMA).
At the end of last year, China Mobile gave a white paper to manufacturers that TD-LTE smart phones need to support GSM, TD-SCDMA, and TD-LTE three-mode. TD-LTE smart phones with retail price above 2,000 yuan need to support GSM and TD- SCDMA, TD-LTE, WCDMA, FDD-LTE five modes. This is equivalent to opening a fast track for low-end smartphones below 2,000 yuan. Mobile phone manufacturers can quickly cut into the 4G market through lower cost three-mode chips.
However, China Mobile’s new rules have broken this rhythm. At present, only the manufacturers that can mass-produce five-mode chips are Qualcomm and HiSili, and HiSilie is mainly used for Huawei's mobile phones. This means that most mobile phone manufacturers will have to adopt Qualcomm chips in order to obtain more subsidies from China Mobile.
Wang Yanhui, secretary-general of the China Mobile Alliance, told the reporter of China Business News that Qualcomm is likely to take this opportunity to sign a LTE patent license agreement with mobile phone manufacturers, and it is "an agreement without any room for negotiation." To be sure, even a reasonable patent license agreement is not good for mobile phone manufacturers. Because in the case of using a three-mode chip, mobile phone manufacturers do not need to pay patent fees to Qualcomm.
Of course, domestic chip makers are not without opportunities, but it is difficult to catch up with this time point on May 31. In addition to Hisilicon, the current domestic manufacturers that can provide five-mode chips will leave Spreadtrum and Lianxin Technology.
Spreadtrum Marketing Director Zhou Weifang told the "First Financial Daily" reporter that Spreadtrum can provide samples of five-mode chips in the first half of this year, and will follow China Mobile's timetable to provide products, but can not keep up, not yet Say it.
Relevant persons of Lianxin Technology also revealed to the reporter that Lianxin Technology's five-mode products are expected to be mass-produced in the third quarter and cannot keep up with the pace of China Mobile.
"For domestic chip manufacturers, in the short term, China Mobile's new regulations will outweigh the benefits, because the five-mode development threshold is higher, and most domestic chip manufacturers have not yet possessed this technical strength. But in the long run, China Mobile may be able to do this. Promote domestic chip manufacturers to accelerate the development of five-mode chips and shorten the distance with international manufacturers," said a person in the field of chips.
The above-mentioned insiders believe that in the past, the Chinese mobile phone market was “swallowed†by international manufacturers such as Nokia, Motorola and Sony. They did not use chips from Chinese chip manufacturers, and they would not give Chinese chip manufacturers a chance to try their mistakes. Nowadays, the rise of domestic mobile phones and the rapid expansion of market share have given the upstream of the mobile phone industry chain a better development opportunity for the chip industry. Especially in the 4G era, HiSilicon, Spreadtrum, and Lianxin have the ability to make five-mode products, and believe that their pace of catching up with international manufacturers will also accelerate.
"Actually, 4G mobile phones need to be on the market, and must be driven by domestic chips." The above-mentioned related parties of Lianxin Technology said that from the trajectory of 3G development, the popularity of a standard must rely on low-end mobile phones to pull. The cost of domestic chips has always been lower than that of international manufacturers, which can bring more profits to downstream terminal manufacturers.
However, low cost is not the only standard for mobile phone manufacturers to choose chips. The above-mentioned industry insiders said that for small and medium-sized mobile phone manufacturers, there is another important factor in selecting chips - the maturity of product solutions. One of its performances is adopted by larger mobile phone manufacturers, indicating that many problems of the product solutions have been obtained. Solution, small and medium mobile phone manufacturers can shorten the development cycle and reduce development risks. "So, in the five-mode products, small and medium-sized mobile phone manufacturers may continue to wait and see, not to rule out the adoption of small-scale international manufacturers, but it will take a while on a large scale."
Light strobe, even when the radiation is still life, the naked eye can not detect the strobe, but also prone to visual fatigue, damage vision.
If it is to observe the moving objects (especially faster) and in the light under the fine work, not only depending on the material is unclear, the greater the damage to the eyes.
Questions about flicker-free light may arise at this point. To be fair, it should be pointed out that fluorescent tubes operated with conventional or low loss ballast also flicker at 100 Hz and the light output is reduced at lower ambient temperatures. Fluorescent lamps operated with an ECG, including energy saving lamps, work at 44 – 50 kHz so that the lamps normally do not flicker. In reality, however, things are a little different. While a higher switching frequency is used, the input capacitors are to small for cost reasons. This causes the high frequency circuit in the lamp to be supplied with a strongly pulsating voltage. This pulsation creates a brightness modulation in the emitted light which is why these lamps often have a rather high level of flicker at 100 Hz.
