The software enables the brainwave scanning device "Emotiv Insight Brainware" to be linked to wearable displays, developed by Accenture Technology Labs and the Philips Digital Accelerator Lab. The user interface on the display is designed by Accenture's design consultancy Fjord.
According to reports, the system connects Emotiv Insight Brainware and wearable displays to the tablet, enabling users to control Philips-produced TVs, LED lights and emergency notification service systems through commands from the brain. Even ALS patients who have lost muscle and eye movements can use the instructions issued by the brain to operate products connected to the tablet. Emotiv Insight Brainware is equipped with sensor technology that detects the patient's will, feelings and expressions in real time and captures the electrical signals of their brains.
Users can also control home appliances through sight or voice. By using a wearable display, the APP menu can be manipulated using vision.
