[Global Network Technology Comprehensive Report] According to the Israeli "Economist" reported on November 29th, China's e-commerce company Alibaba decided to acquire Israel's personalized QR code startup company Visualead. According to informed sources, in the near future, the two companies are negotiating the deal, with a turnover of up to tens of millions of dollars.
Founded in 2012, Visualead is located 9 miles south of the Israeli city of Tel Aviv. Currently, Visualead has raised tens of millions of dollars from Alibaba, Kaedan Capita, Entrée Capital and other investors. According to insiders, part of the investment agreement between the two parties mentioned that Alibaba will have the opportunity to acquire Visualead, or purchase some of the company’s assets worth tens of millions.
The Economist asked Alibaba for this matter, but it has not yet received a response.
If this acquisition can be completed, this will be the first time Alibaba has entered the Israeli market.
Visualead has developed a software that generates a personalized QR code that users can scan using a smartphone. Different from the traditional black and white two-dimensional code, the two-dimensional code uses a color design. In the field of e-commerce, two-dimensional codes are visual tags that carry commodity information for product tracking and prevention of counterfeits.
