CCTV 2013 for high-definition

Ding Wenhua, chief engineer of CCTV, revealed recently that he hopes that the entire CCTV station's standard definition production will be completely withdrawn in 2013. It is also planned to broadcast 8 to 10 sets of HD and SD simulcast channels during the launch of the new site and the relocation of the site. 60%~70% will be broadcast on HD channels.

At the "China International Radio, Film and Television Expo Science and Technology Development Forum BIRTV2010 Thematic Report Meeting" held today, Ding Wenhua said that the new CCTV site will be fully launched in 2011 and enter the period of the "Twelfth Five-Year Plan", whether it is mechanism or technical support and implementation. CCTV's commitment to fully play its new site's high-definition production and broadcasting capabilities is to be honored.

According to reports, CCTV hopes to spend one to one and a half years to complete the benign operation of the new system. In 2012, it will carry out the transformation of the current site's process system. Due to the postponement of the new site construction time, the present site's high-definition level has greatly improved compared with the original forecast.

Ding Wenhua said that in the meantime, CCTV will implement the overall strategy of high-standard simulcast by the General Administration of Directors. In addition to CCTV-1’s current SDTV simulcast, CCTV will broadcast 8 to 10 high-definition standard broadcast channels, involving CCTV-2. CCTV-3, CCTV-5, CCTV-8, CCTV-10, CCTV-news, CCTV-children, etc. have relatively high ratings. "If these channels are done, 60%-70% of the entire audience share has already been transferred to HD channels."

“We hope that the entire CCTV will have a full withdrawal of production in 2013. From the life cycle point of view, our equipment will have worked for at least 8 to 10 years or even earlier. Now the equipment before 2000 in Taichung was basically gone. Ding Wenhua said, "In addition to the simulcast channel, we hope to see a very large number of changes in the nation's HD environment in 2013. We hope that half or even half of the channels in the country will have high-definition conditions. In order to switch to HD channels, such as high-definition televisions, cable access front-ends, direct broadcast satellites, terrestrial, including the box, these indicators should reach an indicator, 30% of foreign countries will enter the handover, and China will have 50% of the handovers later. In this case, the overall strategic deployment will be completed during the entire five-year period."
