Fairchild's Newly Launched High-Efficiency LED Street Lighting Solution

Fairchild Semiconductor is located in the Global Power Resource Center in Greater China and has developed a complete LED street lighting solution. This solution has features such as high efficiency, excellent thermal performance, and high reliability, which can significantly extend the use of street lamps.

This new street lighting solution features advanced critical conduction mode PFC , high efficiency DC-DC conversion, and constant current control, and includes parallel or series sub-solutions in the same board layout.

With a 220V input voltage, the parallel solution provides 91.26% efficiency from the AC input to the LED side and 92.6% in the series solution.

The current in each LED string of the parallel solution is controlled independently. Therefore, if one LED string breaks, the rest of the LED string can still work.

For the in-line solution, each LED string has an independent open circuit protection function. If one LED breaks, the rest of the LED string can still work.

In addition, if one LED is short-circuited, the constant current circuit can ensure that all other LEDs in the parallel and series sub-solutions can work normally.

This new solution has a very low number of components, powerful protection features and high fault tolerance for LED faults, resulting in very high reliability. In the parallel layout can reduce more than 20 components, series layout reduces 86 components.

Fairchild Semiconductor uses an active power factor correction controller FAN7930 to perform boost PFC applications in CrCM , and a highly integrated fast power switching product FSFR2100 to provide all the functions needed to build a reliable and robust resonant half-bridge converter.
