The European Commission's non-food rapid warning system has recalled three Chinese-made LED lamps. The electrical insulation between the live parts of the "ATOPSUN" brand lamps and the "GT Industrial" brand lamps and the accessible metal is insufficient, and the user is at risk of being shocked.

Both products do not meet the requirements of the European Union Low Voltage Directive and the European related standard EN 60598. Another "Party Lighting" brand of lamps contains short-chained chlorinated paraffins, which are teratogenic, pathogenic, and mutagenic. The test value is as high as 1.1% and does not meet the requirements of the European Union's Persistent Organic Pollutants Regulations.

Experts from the Jiangsu Inspection and Quarantine Bureau said that although China's LED lamps have developed rapidly, they have formed a large industrial scale and have huge market potential. However, the shortcomings of the core and key technologies and the scattered, small and chaotic industrial organization pattern still restrict The improvement of international competitiveness.

After years of rapid growth, exports have slowed since 2015. In 2016, exports were US$10.6 billion, a decrease of 0.77% year-on-year. Exports in 2017 were $12.2 billion, a year-on-year increase of over 10%. In 2017, there were 17,801 export products companies, an increase of 1,198 companies compared with 2016, while the top 30 exports accounted for only 24.21% of the total exports, a slight decrease from 2016.

Experts pointed out that in recent years, developed countries in Europe and the United States have tens of thousands of recalls of LED lamps in China every year. After analysis, there are four main quality problems:

• First, the waterproof performance of the product is not up to standard, and it is easy to get wet, which causes damage inside the lamp. Such products are mainly found in outdoor LED lamps.

• Second, the product protection against electric shock does not meet the standard requirements. The main reason is that some manufacturers have defects in design, there are hidden dangers in the structure, and the insulation of the cable may also cause fire.

• Third, there are quality risks in the internal wiring and external wiring of the product, which may cause electric shock, fire, fall and other injuries, and endanger the personal and property safety of consumers.

• Fourth, the products contain toxic and hazardous substances, which do not meet the requirements of relevant foreign laws and regulations.

Jiangsu Inspection and Quarantine Bureau reminded that foreign users are increasingly demanding the quality and function of LED lamps. It is difficult for low-cost and low-quality products to form unique customers, not to mention the continued profitability. The integration speed of LED lighting industry is accelerating. .

Export enterprises should keep abreast of the standards of LED lighting products developed in Europe and the United States, and improve product quality from product design, raw material procurement, assembly and production.

At the same time, strengthen contact with inspection and quarantine departments and industry associations, conscientiously study the quality problems of recalled products abroad, draw inferences from the third, focus on the key aspects of quality, and turn blindly pursuing low prices into focusing on products themselves, and enhance the competitiveness of “Made in China” international market. .
